I am retired, live in a small desert town in San Diego County, and am active in my community planning group and with water issues. I read mostly for pleasure these days and read across genres, but I do tend to like fantasy and sci-fi. I also read books on politics and society as well as other fiction and nonfiction books. I do love a good story, well told. I also enjoy learning about younger people and those who live in other countries through reading books. I am here mostly to get ideas for books others are reading and will be happy to contribute books I love.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission--and if he fails, humanity …

This seemed almost a perfect book to me, such an interesting set of events (threat to end of world) based on biological organisms, not good and evil; an amazing journey and alien contact, satisfying ending but not contrived. Really loved the book.
