Surprising Twists and Turns

5 stars

Wow, what a riveting book! I finished this in three days, because the suspense was relentless.

Hex is about a town living under a curse, where evil lies waiting behind the secrets kept regarding an ancient witch, bound in chains, who wanders the streets and waits.

I was pleasantly surprised at the turns the plot took. Thomas Olde Heuvelt is fast becoming a favorite author of chills.

5 stars

As a fan of Shirley Jackson, I'd have to say that Ellen Datlow curated a most excellent collection of intriguing stories from an array of contemporary authors.

I was sad to have finished the last story, but now I know whom to go to for more.

Catriona Ward: The Last House on Needless Street (Hardcover, 2021, Viper) 5 stars

I picked this book from the local store shortly after finishing Sundial, because I really enjoyed Catriona Ward's writing.

This was another thrilling page-turner about a young girl's disappearance in rural Washington state and the people who are involved in solving the mystery.

Catriona Ward is a force of nature behind the written word. She's fast becoming one of my favorite authors.

This book was one of a handful that helped me graduate from children's books. It's was kind of a young adult or tween fiction of its time, and it was easily one of the favorite books of my childhood.
